Yverdon Sport Women unveiled a fresh logo and officially changed their name from Yverdon Sport Femmes to Yverdon Sport Women on July 9 2026. The move aims to avoid confusion in multilingual Switzerland and sharpen the club’s brand.
Why the rename now?
The club’s board said the term “Femmes” can cause misunderstandings across the four national languages. Yverdon Sport Women instantly signals the team’s link to the main club. The new emblem also mirrors the men’s colours, creating a unified look. The Swiss Football Association receives between two and ten name‑change requests each year – Yverdon is not alone.
What does the new logo look like?
The badge blends the classic Y‑symbol with a stylised female footballer in the club’s blue and white. Designer Markus Keller, who refreshed FC Basel’s crest, noted the lines are “dynamic and modern”. The logo will appear on kits, social media and in the stadium from now on.
How does this affect the club?
A single brand could free up marketing funds by reducing overlap with other teams. It also boosts the women’s side’s visibility in a country with four official languages. While the men’s squad currently sits 3rd in the Challenge League, with 67 points and a recent form of DWWLW, the women’s team hopes the heightened brand presence will help them too.
What’s next?
Yverdon plans to debut the new design at the next home match against FC Wil. The sports director is also launching a campaign that involves local schools to nurture young talent. Women’s coach Sabrina Müller believes the fresh look will draw more fans and keep the squad motivated in the title chase – they are 14 points behind leaders FC Vaduz. The season is still open, and the rebrand could be the extra push they need.
